The new regime – a quick update

September 12th, 2009 · No Comments · EDG

Well, less than a week into the new regime and I am thrilled (no seriously, it makes me giddy) to declare the program wildly successful. We put Ellie down drowsy, but awake, at around 7.45. She barely squawks before falling asleep and, here’s the best part, staying asleep. For up to 5 hours. Yay! But it gets better. Before the new regime, we always hoped for a first long sleep, because Ellie really never gave us a long (3+ hours) second sleep. That’s changed. We’re basically getting 4-4-3. And when she wakes up in the night, she falls back asleep on her own after 10 minutes of feeding. The best part of all this is that we’ve got our evenings back. After putting her down, we’ve got hours left to make dinner, watch a move, read the paper, work or whatever.

So sanity has returned to the *roll household. Just in time for school to start next week (phew, that was close). Now that we’re feeling rested and confident, Eleanor will no doubt start hatching a new plan to throw us into disarray. In fact, she’s probably in her crib plotting as I write (well, she’s definitely in her crib — I know that). But for now, Ellie has retaken the number 1 spot from Belly who barfed on the couch last night.

We’ll post some pictures soon. Stay tuned!
