On Sunday we went for a walk in our local county park, which is romantically named “Wilderness Park“. It’s a heartbreakingly beautiful park filled with winding trails, steep ravines, grassy glades, tree-covered cliffs and the twisty Cannon River which is the river that bisects Northfield. In Chicago we occasionally went orienteering or biking in the Cook County Forest Preserves which were a great escape but we often had planes flying low overhead and these parks usually skirted major highways. Wilderness Park is nothing like that: there were four cars in the (unpaved) parking lot and we only ran in to one other hiker who was corralling her 4 dogs after their walk. We didn’t hear a single noise other than our own feet crunching leaves or Ellie squealing at the dog.
The only noxious thing was came across was some bad-ass Minnesota graffiti:

I’m SO jealous. Sounds wonderful! We miss real nature.
coming to visit SOON but it might be too cold for long walks!
